iPad 2 Release Date and Rumour Roundup

Apple has confirmed the release date of  the iPad 2 to be 2 March,
now it is time to see which of the iPad 2 rumours will prove to be true.
Here are my picks:

• Front and back face time cameras yes

Highly likely Screenshots of a face time and photo booth app for the iPad has been leaked.

• SD Slot no

Maybe... This one I am not to sure about. Cases leaked have shown a SD card sized slot but this could also be for a SIM Card. Also the iPad Camera Adapter accessory has made Apple so much money and in the Apple spirit it would be difficult to imagine them not capitalising even further on this (even though most if not all of the latest tablet will in fact have SD card slots).

• Retina display no

Very unlikely However much I want this rumour to be true, I know that it is almost impossible for a number of reasons. First, the fact that there is still no content that high resolution, even 1080p video will have to be scaled up! Secondly, each tablet would cost around $2000 each to manufacture. Although I still think that we will see this in a future iPad, maybe 3.0?

• 7 Inch Version no

Unlikely Steve Jobs has actively come out and said smaller tablets like this (ahem! Galaxy Tab I / Playbook) are basically useless.

• More RAM yes

Likely A faster processor and more RAM are very likely to be on the cards.

• Larger speaker yes

Likely Reports from manufacturers have hinted at a larger and higher quality speaker to be included.

• Thinner yes

Likely Apple's second gen devices have traditionally been "thinner, lighter and faster" and I would not be surprised to see this again.

With the release just weeks away we will soon see what "revolutionary" Apple will unveil.
