In B Flat, A Digital Orchestra

I am loving In B Flat, an experimental, collaborative video orchestra from Darren Solomon. Each video produces one element of the composition (in B flat), which you can mix together by adjusting the volume sliders.

Darren has taken a single note – B Flat – and subscribed no tempo or rhythm, he is just asking for other musicians, singers or spoken word artists to contribute one to two minutes of noise in that key. And, with a simply designed layout has created a YouTube mixing desk.

Individuals have uploaded their contributions to YouTube which Darren then adds to the website set up for the project and from there the fun begins. By playing the multiple YouTube videos, rather than a cacophony of random noise, you get a strange ambient, electronic and soothing sounds from a mixing desk right in your browser. You can then stop certain instruments, or raise and lower the YouTube clip volume settings to get your own unique mix in B Flat. Not to be missed! Give it a try here.
