Do Your Grocery Shopping On The Go Thanks To QR Codes

According to Tesco, Koreans are the second hardest working people in the world, and time is literally money. Taking an hour a week for grocery shopping can be a real drag, so the company devised a way to have the store come to the people. Tesco set up virtual grocery stores in locations like subway/metro stations so that people can literally do their grocery shopping while waiting for the train.

There are posters on the wall which are set up like shelves and feature images of the products available for purchase. The experience itself is similar to a traditional shop, however instead of putting the produce in your trolley or bag and taking it to the counter to purchase, you simply whip out your smartphone and scan the QR code beneath the image of what you want to buy. When you have finished you pay via your smartphone and the groceries are delivered to your door! Certainly an innovative advancement in the tedious task of grocery shopping. Although there is one drawback, you cannot actually see what you are buying, merely a picture of it. You cannot pick up a product and turn it around to see the nutritional value or check if it is ripe enough for buying. This is a small complaint against a revolutionary new shopping experience. Watch the video below to see it in action!
