The All Star Weekend is finally over, phew. What an exciting all star weekend!
It was kicked off with the incredibly high scoring Rookie-Sophomore game. With MVP performance from John Wall and more of the same (insane dunks) from rookie sensation Blake Griffin, the rookies were able to take the game for the second year running. Final Score: 148-140.
The Celebrity All Star game was entertaining to say the least. A surprisingly skillful Justin Bieber winning the MVP. The East beat the West 54-49.
Next up was one of the biggest events of the weekend...the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest! Rookie Blake Griffin was among the skilled line-up, also consisting of 7 footer Serge Ibaka, rising star Demar DeRozan and Wizards forward Javale McGee. We were treated to some spectacular dunks, including one from behind the free throw line! Among the highlights was Blake Griffins dunk over a car!!! Eventually Blake won the contest by winning over the judges with some creative and powerful dunks.
The Foot Locker Three Point Contest was a fierce competition between some of the all time best 3 point shooters. Including Ray Allen, who is now holds the record for the most three pointers...ever! Allen faced off against team member Paul Pierce, the reigning champ. In an upset victory James Jones from the Miami Heat pulled off a sharp shooting performance to take the competition.
Finally, the main event of the weekend, the East vs West game. This year's teams were decided by the fans via online voting on the NBA website. The East had an amazingly strong team consisting of Wade, Lebron, Rose, Stoudemire and Howard. They had to face up to a West team lead by Kobe, including Love, Carmelo, Durant and Paul. It was a tightly contested game with many jams, but as a result of the MVP performance from Kobe Bryant the West were able to win 148-143. Also notable was Lebron's triple double.
And that concludes what has been a great weekend for all basketball fans out there!
